Bonnie Thiel has owned and operated her own martial arts school since March 3, 1996. She started her martial art training at the McHenry Flying Dragons in September of 1984. Through the years she has earned her Black Belt and has gone so far beyond. She is now a 6th degree Master in her main style of martial arts “KiMudo”. She has also earned the ranks of 1st degree Black Belt in Jujitsu and 2nd degree Black Belt in Hapki-Do. She is a certified instructor in Self Defense. She earned her certification through the W.I.S.E. program. (Women Initiating Safe Environments) taught by Master Larry Klahn of La Crosse, Wisconsin. She also was certified through AWSDA (American Women’s Self Defense Association).
Bonnie started teaching women’s self-defense through the McHenry Park District 1987 – 1997. Then she started teaching the women’s self-defense through her own school in Spring Grove, Illinois. She has been teaching three eight week courses a year since the martial arts school was opened. She has taught hundreds of two-hour self-defense seminars throughout the years. They were held at her school and several different organizations and schools. Some of these would include Southern Illinois University, Waukegan High School, Marian High School, and Brookwood Middle School, Genoa City Wisconsin.

Ron Thiel has assisted Bonnie at her martial arts school since March 3, 1996. He started his martial art training at the McHenry Flying Dragons in February of 1992. Through the years he has earned his Black Belt and has gone so far beyond. He is now a 5th degree Master in his main style of martial arts “KiMudo”. He has also earned the rank of 1st degree Black Belt in Hapki-Do. He is a certified instructor in Self Defense. He earned his certification through the W.I.S.E. program. Ron started teaching women’s self-defense through the McHenry Park District 1994 – 1997. Then he started teaching the women’s self-defense with Bonnie through her in Spring Grove, Illinois.
Ron is the head instructor of the Belvidere Flying Dragons. He started teaching Kimudo through the Belvidere YMCA in 2008.
